Loving and reliable cat sitting service in Letchworth
I’m Sarah, a lifelong cat lover and freelance women’s health journalist, living in SG6 with cats Tybalt and Scala, dog Elfin, and my husband Josh (and yes, that’s the pecking order!)
I’ve lived with cats since 2001, became cat mum to our fur babies Tybalt and Scala in 2013, and have been cat sitting since 2016 – originally in Stratford and Bow, east London, and now in Letchworth Garden City.
I have a current DBS police check, and my flexible work schedule means I can fit visits in around your cat’s usual routine. I offer a trustworthy, caring and reliable service, and am used to working with all kinds of cats – from lively and playful kittens to more timid or anxious rescue cats.
Standard visits last around 30 minutes – including food and water top-ups, litter tray cleaning, and cuddles or playtime. If your cat needs lots of stimulation, or you’re away for a week or more, I’m also happy to work from your home for a couple of hours once or twice a week to keep them company. All I ask is that you leave me your WiFi password and some tea bags!
If necessary I can administer medication, and set up automated feeder bowls.

What you can expect
As a cat mum myself, I know how anxious owners can feel about leaving their beloved pets behind when they go on holiday or weekends away.
My goal is always to ensure cat parents can relax, safe in the knowledge that their cat is happy and comfortable in their own home.
As a cat sitter I pride myself on being:
Reliable
Caring
Communicative
Clean

Booking
I accept bookings through Cat in a Flat for both your peace of mind and mine. When you book through them, my visits are fully insured for any accidental loss or damage.
For new client bookings I arrange a free meet and greet in your home, to meet you and your cat(s), talk through their routine, and see where their food and litter are kept.

Keys:⠀
Unless I already have your key, or we have a usual safe place for you to leave it, I’ll be asking all owners to drop their key through my letterbox in an envelope clearly labelled with your cat’s name (but not your address – send me that via Cat in a Flat or WhatsApp).
Meet and greets:
For new clients, or clients who’ve moved house since my last visit, I’ll be doing meet and greets via video call. This will allow you to virtually show me around your home, as well as talking me through your cat’s usual routine and where everything’s kept. This won’t be necessary for existing clients but please do let me know if anything’s changed since my last visit.
Hygiene:
I’m always very careful to leave your home clean and tidy anyway, but I’ll be taking extra care to wipe down anything I touch, and washing my hands at the beginning and end of each visit. Please do clean anything I might need to handle while I’m there – cat litter scoops, food bowls, favourite toys, storage tins, etc – before you go away, and let me know where I can find cleaning products if it isn’t obvious.
Visit duration:
Cat in a Flat is advising all cat sitters to minimise time and movement within clients’ homes, so for the time being I won’t stop for a cuppa and extended cuddles like I might usually, but rest assured that your cat will still get plenty of fuss and playtime while I’m there.
Cancellations:
If there are any problems or you need to cancel the booking, please let me and Cat in a Flat know as soon as possible, and remember to click “cancel booking” on the website to stop your payment being taken automatically.

Articles
I’ve been self-employed in my main job as a writer and editor since 2014, which allows plenty of flexibility for my cat sitting side hustle!
I mostly write about women’s health and gynae issues, but also cover mental health, more general health and fitness subjects, and feminism.
Of course, I’ve also written for both Your Cat Magazine and the Cats Protection magazine about my other favourite subject, cats!
